Friday Khutba

Submission to Allah

Koran Tasbih Rot

Dear Brothers and Sisters!

Today is Friday. As believers, we have gathered in mosques to worship together. We are experiencing days of light upon light, joy upon joy. Tomorrow is the day of Arafah and the day after is Eid. No matter how much we praise Allah, it will never be enough.

Dear Brothers and Sisters!

Allah (swt) says: “Say: ‘Indeed, my prayer, my sacrifice, my living and my dying are all for Allah, the Lord of the worlds. He has no partner. This is what I have been commanded, and I am the first of those who submit (to His will).” This verse reminds us believers that in every moment of our lives, with every act of worship, with our existence, our life and our death, we must submit solely to Allah. As in the promise we make to Allah (swt) forty times a day with Surah Al-Fatiha, we worship only Him, seek help only from Him and ask for guidance only from Him to remain steadfast on the straight path.

Dear Brothers and Sisters!

Our beloved Prophet (saw) has said: “How wonderful is the case of a believer! There is good for him in everything, and this is exclusive to a believer. If something good happens to him, he is grateful, and that is good for him. If something harmful happens to him, he is patient, and that is good for him.” This hadith emphasises that we must act with patience and gratitude in every moment of our lives and always seek the pleasure of Allah in every situation.

Dear Jama’ah

Tomorrow is the day of Arafah. Arafah is a very precious time that should be spent in prayer and worship. Our Prophet (saw) has given the glad tidings that the prayers made on the day of Arafah are accepted. On this blessed day, let’s not forget to pray especially for our oppressed brothers and sisters in Palestine, East Turkestan and all around the world who are suffering under oppression. May Allah be their supporter and helper.

Dear Brothers and Sisters!

Eid al-Adha, which is on Sunday, reminds us of the submission of Ibrahim (AS). He was so devoted to Allah that he was ready to sacrifice his beloved son Ismail at Allah’s command. Because of this attitude and behaviour, Allah made him His “Khalil,” meaning friend and said about him, “Indeed, Ibrahim was a community by himself, devoutly obedient to Allah, inclining toward truth, and he was not of those who associate others with Allah.” This teaches us what it means to dedicate everything in our lives to Allah and to prioritise His pleasure above all else. We must avoid rebellion, idolatry and all similar sins in every aspect of our lives, worshiping Allah with pure devotion. Let us remember that each of us is in a test. We should organise our lives with this awareness and always maintain our submission to Allah.

Dear Brothers and Sisters!

Let’s not forget to fulfill our obligatory Qurban sacrifice and donations before the day of Eid al-Adha arrives. For those who wish to fulfill this obligation can make their donations to Hasene either in person through representatives at your local ICMG or Hasene branch or online via the Hasene website. Remember, there are millions of people in need, waiting for your donations and looking to Hasene for support.

Dear Jama’ah!

May Allah (swt) make us among His servants who are fully surrendered to Him. May He accept our sacrifices and all of our acts of worship. May He accept the prayers made during these blessed days just as He accepts the prayers made on Arafah. May He not separate us from the straight path. May your Friday, your Arafah, and your Eid be blessed. Ameen.
