Kemal Ergün, the President of the Islamic Community Millî Görüş (IGMG), issued a statement in response to the German train catastrophe that left five people dead and more than 40 injured. “We are profoundly saddened for the lives lost and the injuries sustained in the train accident.”

Ergün went on to say:

“The news of the people who died or were injured while riding the train to possibly see relatives and friends or to go to work has shocked us. We hope that those who were injured will recover quickly, and we wish patience for the families and friends of those who died. We are deeply saddened by the deaths of two Ukrainian defectors, as well as the children and young adults aboard the train. Such a disaster is impossible to put into words.

Our heartfelt wishes are that those who have been injured recover quickly and that those who have lost loved ones find the strength to get through this difficult time.”
