Khutba: Shaytan’s Field of Influence
01. April 2021Dear Congregation!
Our Lord, out of His mercy, has revealed our friend and our enemy. For example, he declared that Satan and his army were our enemies in Surah Fatir: “Indeed, Satan is an enemy to you; so take him as an enemy. He only invites his party to be among the companions of the Blaze”.
What we need is not to be friends with our enemy, Satan and his friends. Because the devil wishes us to obey the what Allah has forbidden.
Dear Brothers!
From time to time, Satan succeeds in manipulating us. The devil enters our harem more ingeniously than the most ingenious thief and hunts us mercilessly.
One of Satan’s greatest qualities is that he is ungrateful. He proved this by his actions towards Allah, who bestowed His greatest blessings to him. As Muslims, if we waste our time and opportunities, we will accompany the devil. Moreover, if we do not repent for our sins that we have committed immediately, Shaytan will increase his evil whispers upon us. When a sin is committed, it becomes easier to sin, and the heart becomes solid.
Repentance is only possible by leaving the people of sin and the environment of sin and finding the environment of good. If we avoid the forbidden and pay attention to our Ibadah, if we increase the dhikr, we will remove the devil’s influence from upon us.
“Whoever says “La ilaha ill-Allah wahdahu la shareeka lah, lahu’l-mulk wa lahu’l-hamd wa huwa ‘ala kulli shayin qadeer” one hundred times in the day, will have a reward equivalent to that of freeing ten slaves, one hundred hasanahs (good deeds) will be recorded for him, and one hundred bad deeds will be erased from his record, and it will be protection for him from the shaytan for that day, until evening comes.”
Dear Brothers!
The source of knowledge and wisdom is the Qur’an and Sunnah. We should not forget that the devil loves to fill the spaces with falsehood.
Therefore, when a calamity befalls us, we should know it as a blessing and suppress the rebellion of the soul, realize its insolvency, quickly turn to repentance and seek refuge in Allah. Hopelessness will simplify Satan’s work. We must repent as soon as possible. For Allah commanded the repentance of the repentant in a sincere manner.
May Allah protect us from both the enmity of Satan and his evil whispers. Amin.
