Lailatul Barat

The shadow of Ramadan, the sultan of eleven months and the time of peace in our hearts, has fallen on us. Next Thursday, on the 15th night of Sha'ban, we will witness Lailatul Barat. Barat means getting rid of sin, debt and punishment in Arabic, therefore reaching the mercy and forgiveness of Allah (swt). Since it was announced that Allah's forgiveness will be abundant, this night is called "Lailatul Barat".

In the Qur'an, some stories are told by Allah (swt) for people to take lessons. These stories are in the nature of advice and include the struggles of the tribes and prophets who lived in the past years. Allah (swt) mentions in the Quran; “We relate to you, [O Muḥammad], the best of stories in what We have revealed to you of this Qur’ān although you were, before it, among the unaware.”

Irsa and Mi’raj

The event of Isra and Mi’raj took place In the 12th year of Prophet Muhammad (saw)’s prophethood. The Qur'an describes this great miracle that took place before the Hijra as follows: “Exalted is He who took His Servant [i.e., Prophet Muḥammad (ﷺ)] by night from al-Masjid al-Ḥarām to al-Masjid al-Aqṣā, whose surroundings We have blessed, to show him of Our signs. Humans amongst the universe of being, are considered the most honorable of creation while the Ka’ba is considered the most valuable and virtuous of places. Similarly, what is recognized as the three months: Rajab, Shaban, and Ramadan, which incorporates the holiest of nights, is accepted as the most blessed and virtuous of months. The first holy night that signifies the commencement of the three blessed months is Rajab, while Laylat al-Qadr (The Night of Power) indicates its departure.
