Kemal Ergün, the President of the Islamic Community Millî Görüş (IGMG), released a statement about the living conditions of the Rohingya people worsening day by day. Saying that “Even if it is only one person whose rights and dignity are trampled down on earth, it is a transgression,” Ergün continued his statement as follows:
Dear Brothers!
When we were nearing the month of Rajab, we were making the dua of our Prophet ﷺ: “O Allah, bless us in Rajab and Sha`bān and enable us to reach Ramadan”. We have completed the month of Rajab, may Allah accept our deeds in this month. We are currently in the middle of the month of Sha’ban. According to Usama bin Zaid (r.a), apart from Ramadan, the Prophet ﷺ observed the most amount of fasting during the month of Sha’ban. When asked about his many fasts during Sha’ban the Prophet responded “That is a month to which people do not pay attention, between Rajab and Ramadan, and it is a month in which deeds are lifted up to the Lord of the Worlds. I like for my deeds to be lifted up when I am fasting.”
Secretary General of the Islamic Community Millî Görüş Bekir Altaş made a statement in connection with the scientific study “Immigration and Integration Curricula Reseach” carried out by MIDEM. According to the research findings, the subject of immigration and integration as it is covered in the school curricula in Germany does not correspond to real life. Moreover, the immigrants and Muslims are represented as problematic types in these curricula, reinforcing racist stereotypes. Saying that “the school books cover the subject of cultural and religious diversity in a problematic way and this has to change.” Altaş resumed his statement as follows:
Dear Brothers and Sisters!
Our masjids are our holy places that gather us inside, give peace and confidence, the sign of the existence of Islam in that region, and ensures our unity. At the same time, our masjids, in the words of Rasulullah (saw): “The most beloved places to Allah are the mosques.” Because, our masjids, are sacred places that offer messages of salvation to humanity, stop non-belief and ignorance, aim to raise a community of knowledge and wisdom, and send calls to people, especially Muslims, to act together in human identity.
“Human rights are no bargaining chip. The EU and Turkey must end this horse trade”, said Bekir Altaş, secretary general of the IGMG. Currently, Turkey and the EU are negatiating the renewal of a “refugee deal”.
Dear Brothers and Sisters!
One of the most important elements that make a society strong and peaceful is the sincere communication between individuals in the society and being truthful when speaking. Correct and soft dialogues will contribute to the goodness and peace of the society. On the other hand, harsh and rude communications will put people at distance and cause them to move away from each other. Friendships and even relatives will be affected by this, that is, all human relations will be greatly damaged by these situations.
“Even though the pandemic isn’t over yet, it’s time for a first review”, said Osman Yusuf, leader of the IGMG’s communications department. Yusuf spoke on the occasion of the release of a 200-page brochure which highlights inspiring projects launched by the IGMG during the pandemic.
