Kemal Ergün, Chairman of the Islamic Community Millî Görüş (IGMG), released a congratulatory message on the Eid al-Fitr. “Eid means praying for the safety and well-being of all humanity, and showing solidarity. This dimension and function of eids is now more important than ever.” said Ergün in his message, and continued his words as follows:
We have read the Quran. We paid our Zakat and Fitrah, which strengthened the feelings of brotherhood and unity and healed the wounds of the needy. In the spiritual atmosphere of the month of Ramadan, we experienced the happiness of being together. During the month of Ramadan, we made an effort to fulfill our prayers. With the joy of hoping for reward from Allah (swt), we all came to the morning of the Eid together. Eid are days of joy and remembrance of Allah (swt). These are the days when people are at peace with themselves, humanity and even the whole world.
Bekir Altaş, Secretary General of the Islamic Community Millî Görüş (IGMG), released a statement regarding the increasing complaints from people who are active in helping refugees. "The unequal treatment of refugees is causing increasing resentment among those who are negatively affected and those involved in helping refugees. Integration facilitations that apply to people from Ukraine must be open to all those seeking protection," said Altaş and continued his statement as follows:
Ramadan had reminded us about mercy, sharing, forgiveness, redemption, and the ways of salvation. Ramadan reunited believers, whose relationship with the Qur'an had weakened. With the tarawih prayer, which is the resurrection of the nights of Ramadan, which is a means of purification from sins, the state of being with Allah (swt) at all times and the consciousness of ascension were regained.
“Indeed, We sent it [i.e., the Qur’ān] down during the Night of Decree. And what can make you know what is the Night of Decree? The Night of Decree is better than a thousand months. The angels and the Spirit [i.e., Gabriel] descend therein by permission of their Lord for every matter. Peace it is until the emergence of dawn.” [1]
We have come to the middle of the month of Ramadan, whose beginning is mercy, whose middle is forgiveness, and whose end is salvation from the punishment of hell. By using the spiritual atmosphere of this blessed month, we aim to mature our spiritual world. We pray that Allah (swt), the Most Merciful, would forgive our sins. We take refuge in Him with the fasts we kept and the worship we made.
The religion of Islam, is built on five pillars and one of these is Zakat, which is an act of worship for the benefit of the society for Allah (swt). Zakat is a religious duty that must be fulfilled by every believer who has the minimum wealth required, is sane, and has reached the age of puberty.
