Dear Brothers and Sisters!

The Qur’an is a divine book revealed to the Prophet Muhammad (saw) over a period of 23 years, sometimes verse by verse and sometimes as complete chapters. The arrangement and organisation of the Qur’an, determining which verse belongs to which chapter and the sequence of the chapters, were directly communicated to our Prophet by Allah through the angel Jabreel. Our Prophet himself established the order of the Qur’an as we have it today. The Qur’an contains fundamental beliefs, principles of worship, moral values, rulings on what is permissible and forbidden, interpersonal relations, punishments and rewards, and the stories of past communities, among other topics. It is unlike any other book, as it is a book that is itself an act of worship to be recited. It has unique methods of writing and recitation.

The Messenger of Allah occasionally presented the Qur’an to the angel Jabreel, and in the last Ramadan before his passing, he presented it twice, reciting it alternately with Jabreel. The Qur’an was transcribed by scribes of revelation and memorised by a significant portion of the companions. Preserved both in writing and through memorisation, the Qur’an has come down to us without any alteration. It should be known that the ultimate guardian of the Qur’an is Allah Himself. This truth is conveyed by the Almighty in Surah Al-Hijr, verse 9: “Indeed, it is We who sent down the Qur’an and indeed, We will be its guardian.”

Since the time of the Companions, the Qur’an has been the primary source of all knowledge and science. Every field of knowledge begins with the study of the Qur’an, therefore memorising the Qur’an has become an integral part of acquiring knowledge. 

The Messenger of Allah (saw) commanded the learning and teaching of the Qur’an. While indicating those who learn and teach the Qur’an as the best of his ummah, he also cautioned his companions and the entire Muslim community about what may come after him. He advised them, “Learn and teach the obligatory duties and the Qur’an to others, for my soul will depart and I will leave you.”

Prophet Muhammad (saw) conveyed glad tidings about those who memorise the Qur’an and safeguard the divine revelation in a hadith narrated from Ali (ra): “Raise your children with these three qualities: love for the Prophet (peace be upon him), love for his family (Ahl al-Bayt), and memorisation of the Qur’an. For those who memorise and live by it will, on the Day when there is no shade except the shade of Allah’s sovereignty, be under the shade of this sovereignty along with the prophets of Allah and His chosen servants.”

Dear Jama’ah! 

Our organisation’s valuable teachers continue to provide Quran education tirelessly in our mosques and communities for our members and future generations. It’s not enough for adults to be familiar with the Quran through reading; as families, we must also prioritise Quranic education for our children. Across the world, our organisation has established institutions for Quran memorisation, ensuring that our children memorise the Quran. Let’s support our mosques and Hifz institutions where our children are taught the Quran. Enrol our children in the Hifz institutions located near our branches to help them become hafiz. The Prophet Muhammad (saw) said, “The one who memorises and recites the Quran will be in the company of noble angels in the presence of Allah. As for the one who reads the Quran and stutters over it, struggling, there is a double reward for him.”

The second Quran memorisation competition organised by our organisation will be held this year on Saturday, April 27th, at the IGMG Headquarters in Europe. We invite you to participate in these competitions aimed at promoting memorisation and honouring the guardians of the Quran, to support our children. We urge you to join the competition in person or online. May Allah (swt) increase the number of our hafiz and make them guardians of Quranic values. Ameen!
